Trips in 2014
After an Easter Weekend experience in Nottingham Kathy and Steve barely give it the time of day, stopping only to do a food shop before escaping from the city as fast as they can. only to find that the opening hours on the locks really aren’t what you’d expect for high summer.
Kathy and Steve totally fail to get in a pickle, or go for a Burton before passing by a little bit of Ukraine, ending up for the night at somewhere that sounds like it could be a public school but isn’t
Another fine sunny day sees Kathy and Steve make their way through mostly open countryside, past a collection of toilets before getting up close and intimate with the A38 for a short while.
Avoiding Wolverhampton, and in reality really avoiding anywhere including Stafford, Kathy and Steve meander all over the countryside, almost gatecrash a wedding and end up in the middle of nowhere for a rather fine traditional Sunday Roast.
In which Kathy and Steve make their way through some rather crazy 19th Century engineering, involve themselves in a perfectly legal tax evasion process and then make their merry way through more cuttings, saying hello to “Lord Lucan” on the way.
The original plan was to go all the way to Boston and throw some tea in the harbour (well the C&RT visitor moorings anyway). But due to things like the tides on the Trent it was going to make things pretty awkward and tight timing wise so we basically went as far as Lincoln instead. […]
